Brasil - here I come!! :D

Tomorrow I'm leaving for Brasil!! :)

I think I will use this blog to tell everyone how I'm doing and maybe put some photos out here..
We'll see how much time I get on the internet..
It's a school excursion and we have a hard program with a lot of visits to petroleum companies and universities in Brasil.
We'll be gone untill 20. of April.

It will be so much fun!! :D

It's been very quiet here lately... It's acctually been 5 months since I wrote something here... Sorry..

Since I came back from France, I've been working at Statoil in Stjørdal (even been off-shore for 4 days!!). Then I went 12 days to Svalbard far far north... doing geology
Then 2 weeks at home where I started working on my semester-project...(will give me 15 ECTS...)
Then 10 days in the Pyrenees in Spain (Ainsa) doing some more geology and some geophysics... very nice (spent 5 hours in Amsterdam and 1 day in Barcelona too..)
Since then I've been taking a class of petroleum geology and working on my project..(seismic interpretation)

Now it's only a month till everything this semester is finished... The report, the exam...

And then after Christmas I have to start on my diploma... We'll see how that goes...

If you want to see some photos from my trips and some parties this semester, you can go to the following page:

Au Champs Elysee - Gonna miss u guys!

Better late than never...

Hi everyone!

Now I'm back from France. It's weird because everything is so normal. It seems like I've never been gone. But I have....

I've started my summerjob at Statoil, a norvegian oil-company. There I'm doing a project with simulation. It's very challenging but fun!

Thea Sofie has become a big, big girl. She's the cutest in the world! She's so funny when she dances and smiling. :)

A new semester

Hi everybody!

Sorry, I've been very lazy lately. It's been a long time since I updated my weblogg. This semester I hopefully can upload my photos from the computer here in the appartment.

Finished all my exams in the middel of January. Then Jogeir was here a couple of weeks (you can see his photos on his weblogg) and then I've been working on applications for finding a summerjob next summer and writing a raport back home to my university in Trondheim. But from now on I hopefully have more time to write on my weblogg. And even put out some photos... :)

Christmas and New years Eve in Sydney

Hi everybody!

Now I'm back from Australia, stressing with my exams. Had one today and have another two tomorrow + one friday and two monday.(hope you feel sorry for me...)

Since Jogeir has describe my stay with him so well, I'll just give you his web-adress;

There's also a lot of photos and I got him to write in english, so all you can understand.

Safe and sound in Australia

After 30 hours with travel (included some waiting), I finally reached Sydney. Just
a little problem; I didn't get my luggage. It was still in Hong Kong. The reason is probably that the plane was delayed from Paris, and that we didn't reach the plane to Sydney. But no problem; they sent me and about 30 others to Sydney with an other airline, Quantas, only 50 minutes later than the one we lost. And we arrived in Sydney only 20 minutes late. But I think I was the last person to leave the airport because of the problems with the luggage. Poor Jogeir, he had to wait for about an hour, long after the rest had left.

Now we're enjoying the summer in Australia. Have done some shopping, cause I didn't have any clothes for a couple of days. It finally arrived this afternoon. We've already been in Sydney and seen the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. We're planning to spend Christmas Eve in Sydney with a nice dinner at a friends house, and maybe a party, we'll see.

We have a lot on the program; concert, beach, blue mountains, animal parks, shopping etc.... enjoying life ..

(I'm sure we will! ;))

Incredible how fast this semester has gone. Now it's already Christmas.

I've packed my bags and are ready to go to Australia, to my dear one. I really look forward to see him again and to experience Australia.
I've packed down all my school-books, cause I really have to read some to my exams after Christmas. I have exams; 05.01  (14-16), 06.01 (9-12) and (14-16), 07.01 (14-17), 10.01 (9.30-12.30) and (14-16). I also have one more exam, but I don't know when yet.  It will be hard, but it have to go.
Jogeir comes the 8th or 9th so he can comfort me. ;)

But now I'm just going to sleep a bit and then off I go!

Party in Pau

I found this photo from the beginning here in Pau.

Here we see: Adnane (Marocco), Sarah (Spain), Romain (France), ...(...Africa), Saud (Libanon) and the friend of Sarah from Spain (she studies in Toulouse this year).

If you ask for a beer here in france, you only get a half one (25 cl), but it's actually a suitable size for a beer.

It's a long time since 12.09.2004 now, but that was the sunday Marta, Michelle and I went to St-Jean-de-Luz  to meet Orion (that I met in Grenoble). St-Jean-de-Luz is close to Biarritz on the coast south-west in France. It was a wonderful day. We took the train for 2 hours to get there.

me and Orion.

We lay on the beach almost all day.

on the beach.

Michelle and Marta is getting a tan.

We had a super day on the beach, and it was really nice to meet Orion again.
And I also got to know Marta and Michelle better. (lucky me...;))

Now I hope for more days like this in Australia... ;)

Now it's only 2 weeks left of this semester. I've handed in my rapport about depth migration and I had a little exam in treating the signals u get on the computer, with a program called Seismic Unix. Now it's only holding a 15 minuts lecture about gas hydrates left, and maybe a little oral exam, all this in french, and then I'm ready for Australia!

This is my classmates in master 2. (as you all know, I take classes in both master 1 and master 2)
Left to right; Chukwudum from Nigeria, Gilbert from Gabon, Audrey from La Rochelle, France and me. This is from a field excursion.
These ones from master 2 are going to work for companies (mainly Total) or doing research next semester. (That include Daniel from France too.)
So then my classmates will be Livinus and Nelson from Nigeria and Martin from The republic of Sentral Africa.

But now I have to go and get ready to "Julebord". A big party at a hotel in Barege with the norvegians here in Pau. But first we go skiing in the Pyrenees. I really look forward to it. Will be nice to speak norwegian again.
Well, Friday, one week ago, I ate dinner with Ottar Skjerve. Really nice. And I finally got to taste Foie Gras. ;)

Just want to remind you that you still can see photos of me and my friends in Michelles photoalbum;
She updates her album regularly.

Mountaintrip in the Pyrenees

Saturday 9. October Marta, Michelle and I got up early to go to the Pyrenees. We went with SUAP who is a sports-group at the school. I must say, it was quite a hard trip, but then again very beautiful! The weather was perfect and you could see tops all out to the horizon. I felt like queen of the world when I was on the top; Pic du Midi d'Ossau. I will compare this mountaintrip with the one on Slogen (Norway).
After 8 hours walking we came back to the bus which waited for us in vallee d'Ossau. A perfect day!
I hope to go on another mountaintrip like this when the snow melts.

Queen Katharina on the top

Me on my way up.
Look at those beautiful colours.

Sunday 19. september me and Marta went to Lourdes. It's a small town not to far from Pau, about 15 minuts by train. The Pope visited Lourdes last summer. It's a holy town where a lot of pilgrims go every year. It's a saying that the Holy Mary showed her self there around year 1800 (I think!). There she washed her self in the water, and now people(catholics) from all over the world comes there to drink the water, to bath in the water and to bring the water to their friends and families and I don't know what. I drank and bathed in the water, but I don't feel any difference. For me that whole thing is very wierd.

We spent a nice day in Lourdes. After visiting the church and the holy water and some other wierd stuff, we went to the castle of Lourdes. It was more like a museum, but interesting.

This is me in front of the church.

This is Lourdes from the top of the castle. You can see the church by the forest.

The week-end 24.-26. October, Michelle, Gwen, Adnane and I went to Bordeaux. We went by car since Gwen has one. We stayed in Adnanes brothers room, which is only 10 m2. Michelle and I got the bed, while the boys slept on the floor.
We spent 2 days walking around in Bordeaux, which is a very nice city with many nice buildings.

This is the crazy canadien about to jump out of a tower that we climbed to get a view over Bordeaux.

This is us in Bordeaux.

Me in Pau

In the beginning of my stay here in Pau, I was very lonely. I didn't have any friends here and most of the students had not come yet.
My first days here in Pau, I sat a lot in my room doing french cross-words and reading french newspapers and magasins. I also walked around in Pau by myself, trying to get to know the city.
Here is one of the first photos of me in Pau, trying to smile. ;)

I didn't like my room very much, but it was at Corisande d'Andoins that I met my best friends. I lived in the same hall as Michelle the first month here (September). And Marta was in the 4. floor. (Me and Michelle in 3.) There I also met Adnane and Gwen and a bunch of other national and international students.
This is me and Michelle in my room 320 at Corisande.

But in October I moved to an appartment. Ilike it very much here and Anais and Aioli are just great. I have my own room and a big kitchen and bathroom and internet and telephone and a nice and cosy living room. It's very homelike.
I spend a lot of time with Marta (Poland) and Michelle (Canada) who has become my best friends.
We go on excursions together during the week-ends and we often eat dinner together.
Here we are playing with chinese plates in my living room.

This is Marta on the Boulevard de Pyrenee. You can see the Pyrenees in the background.

This is me playing freesbee in the parc close to where I live now.

More to come...

I still have lot of photos downloaded, but I don't have time to put them all on the site now. They will come peu en peu.

But u can also find photos of me and my friends in Michelles photoalbum;

Last week I went home to my familly and friends. Really nice to see everybody again, especially Thea Sofie.

Saturday, 23.10.04, I went by plane via Paris and Amsterdam to Trondheim. I had to wait for 8 hours in Paris, but luckily Tonje (like in Tonje that I met i Grenoble) came to the airport and kept me company for some hours. :)

My first sunday I spent with my dad. He made me "Raspeball". A typical norwegian dish. Made of potatoes and with pieces of meat inside the balls. Delicious!
Here u can see my sister, brother, dad and Rita ready to dig in.

I met many of my friends and had a great party the last friday. Really enjoyed my stay back home.
But tho one who got the most attention was little Thea Sofie.
Here is Thea Sofie and aunt Katharina.

I went back to Pau Monday 01.11.
I'm probably not going home to Norway before June.
Thea Sofie will be a big girl then...
